You play an approach shot to the green and the ball comes up 20 yards (18 m) short of the green and 30 yards (27 m) short of the flag. The ball comes to rest on the fairway and you have no obstacles between you and the flag.
Putting is not an option as the ball is too far away from the putting surface and the fairway grass is too long. Chip No.1 is difficult because your stroke will be too long and out of control. What do you do?
The best option is to play Chip No.2. A low running shot that rolls up onto the green and stops by the flag.
This chapter provides all the technical know how you need to develop a sound method. The difficult part is picking the right shot for each situation. There are so many options and you have to learn how to find the shot you can play that gets you close to the flag. This skill is learnt through experience and practice. You cannot buy it or learn it from someone else.
So enough talking, read this the lessons on chip No.2 then grab your chipping clubs, a couple of balls, pick some of the chipping games and get out to the chipping green!
