Problem Solving 2 - Fat Shots in Bunker

Fat Shots

If you frequently take huge amounts of sand and hardly move the ball at all then you need then you have either one of two problems (other problem is discussed in Problem Solving 3).

You are hitting too far behind the ball at impact causing too much sand to build up between the face of the club and the ball. Because of this the club loses speed and not enough momentum is transferred to the ball causing it to travel a shorter distance than you anticipated.

Bunkers

Solution to Problem 2

You need to think about hitting closer to the ball at impact. Try putting a mark in the sand 2 inches (5 cm) behind the ball and then hitting the mark at impact. Experiment by moving the mark around to find out the effect of this on your shots.

Excersise

Align 5 balls as shown in the picture and get consistancy in your impact.
