Basics of Chip No. 3 – Pitching

Bookmark and Share

Unfortunately the course designers do not always allow you to run the ball to the flag. Supposing you are in heavy rough or the flag is hidden behind some rough, or you have an obstacle between your ball and the flag, what do you do now?

This is where Chip No. 3 comes in handy. A high flying shot that lands softly and stops quickly is what you need. In the following lessons I will show you how you can play the biggest escape shot in golf.

Although the shot is more difficult to execute, you should spend time adding it to your repertoire. Chip No. 3 can get you out of trouble and save you many shots. Go through the lessons and develop a sound technique first. Once you feel comfortable playing the shot, try some of the games to test your skills. However, remember always find the easiest shot. Putting, Chip No.1 and Chip No.2 are easier to play and can often get the job done with less likelihood of error.
