How to Control the Speed - Putting

You have just hit a career best drive and a perfect iron shot to within close range on the most difficult hole on your course. You have never birdied this hole before and round after round your score crashes as the hole tears you up. Now you have a chance for revenge.

You study the putt as though your life depends on it and you make your decision. You get the line exactly right but leave the putt 6 inches (15 cm) short of the hole. No words can describe the frustration of not giving the putt a chance.

In this next section you will learn how to control the speed of all your putts.

Controlling Distance

To control the distance you hit the ball you must do all of the following:

1. Use your shoulders as the engine for your stroke
2. Swing the putter head on the target line at impact
3. Have the putter face square at impact
4. Strike the ball from the sweet spot of the putter

You can find each of these points in this chapter. Go through them and can check your technique accordingly!
