You and Your PutterTake the time to find a good putter. Many people would not hesitate to mortgage their homes in order to find a driver that hits the ball 10 yards (9 m) further. But they would not even consider investing in a well made putter. Does your putter fit you?Putters come in every conceivable shape and size and some come in shapes that are inconceivable. I leave that selection process to you. However, there are some important features your putter should have.
1. Your putter could have an alignment mark over the sweet spot. This is very helpful in aiming and it is a legal aid, so take advantage of especially if you aim well. If you are more of a feel putter then aiming lines could damage your feel for the whole process. 2. Once you have established the correct address position, check to see if the sole of your putter lies flat on the ground. The putter should fit you as opposed to your trying to accommodate the putter. 3. The length of the putter also makes a difference. When your arms are hanging comfortably, grip your putter. If you grip way down on the putter, it is too long. If your left hand does not reach the grip then the putter is too short |
