Controlling Putt Direction

Controlling direction and controlling speed makes for success!

To hole a putt you must correctly judge the direction that the ball travels and also the speed at which it travels. A good putting stroke allows you to control these two vital elements. You and I will go through the basics of putting so that you can build an excellent stroke.

The first area you and I will examine will be the directional element.

Players who have problems with their direction control do so for one or both of the following reasons:

1. Your aim is incorrect
2. Your stroke is controlled by hands and arms

By paying careful attention to your address position you can eliminate many of the errors that cause poor direction control.

By linking up your shoulders and arms you will have a consistent pendulum motion that produces a putt that starts on line.
