Using Shaped Shots on the Course
When you are playing on the course you should be trying to keep your game plan as simple as possible. If a fade is hard for you to control then you should use it only when you perceive a clear benefit.
If, for example, you are blocked out by trees, then you could try to curve your ball around the obstacle.
Hitting draws and fades into greens can sometimes help you. Remember, always try to start your ball in the middle of the green and allow the shape of the shot to take the ball to the flag.
You should hit fades to pins cut in the right of the green and draws to pins cut in the left side of the green.
Because of the spin differences, a fade will generally fly higher and land softer than a draw which flies lower and runs further. It is great fun to use different shapes but you should practise hard before you try using them in the heat of battle.
